Hi! I’m Melanie and I specialise in newborn and baby photography. I have a studio in Bristol. I also carry out child and family photography. This can take place in my studio or on location. In this first blog post I’ll tell you a little about me!
I’m a leading UK newborn photographer. I’m very highly qualified and I’m lucky to have a job I love! I left my career as a lawyer over 12 years ago and have never looked back. I’m married to Simon and we have a daughter, Amelia.
I believe it is important to document memories. Newborns, babies and children grow so quickly. Newborns in particular change within the blink of an eye. In those early days it can be hard to remember how your baby looked. Sleep deprivation has a lot to answer for!
I also teach both amateur and professional photographers both in the UK and abroad. I am also a well known speaker in the field of professional newborn photography. I’m a published author – my book “The Art of Newborn Photography” was published in April 2017. Newborn photography is an art form and a huge amount of patience is required. Safety is of paramount importance and I will cover this in a separate post. I never take risks with newborn babies.
That’s quite enough about me! In the meantime here is beautiful baby Ella whom I photographed recently. She slept beautifully for me. I feel the colours chosen here really complement Ella’s skin tone. Ella’s parents purchased a beautiful Reveal Box so they can showcase her images.
